Trip Planning Services

I’m here to help take the stress out of planning your bucket-list adventures so you can focus on having the best possible trip

As a traveller, travel writer, and ex-travel agent, I know first-hand how stressful it can be planning trips. You work hard saving for your bucket-list getaway and then planning it feels like even more of a slog. All the tiny ins and outs from where to go, how long to spend in each place, how to get around – and even how to make flights work. What the hell is a multi-city or open jaw flight ticket anyway?!

It can all be so overwhelming. Especially when all you want to do is get going already!

After spending nearly 15 years in the travel and logistics industry – I started out by organising hitchhiking events across Europe for more than 350 people, would you believe it! – I’ve picked up a lot of tips and tricks along the way. I was a top-seller at STA Travel, have written travel content for some of the biggest travel companies in the world, including World Nomads, Viator, and Fodor’s Travel, and then spent seven years travelling the world, planning all my own trips and adventures – and doing everything on a tight budget.

I even used those skills to help coordinate disaster relief support in Guatemala after the eruption of Volcan de Fuego in 2018.

My Trip Planning Experience

In my years working at STA Travel, I learned a lot about the travel industry, including round-the-world flight patterns, transport options, popular attractions, and typical routes and itineraries. I also learned a lot about tour companies (and not all of it pretty), and the best ways to maximise your money – and your time.

After leaving STA, I travelled to more than 50 countries, including six months of road tripping around the USA and Canada, and 3000-km+ scooter trips around Vietnam and Laos from Cambodia, which was my home base for almost four years. As a way to diversify my travel writing jobs, I also took on freelance roles as a trip planner and itinerary checker, which I really loved.

Then, in 2019, I moved to Western Australia. Life changed a lot after that. As I was forced to stay local, I learned a lot about the beauty of exploring our own backyard and how you don’t have to travel to the other side of the world or have a fancy car or expensive kit to have incredible adventures.

Whether you want to stay near or go far, I’m here to help!

My specialities

I am especially passionate about responsible travel, overland travel, and immersive cultural experiences, including being conscious of where your tourist dollars go and trying to be environmentally responsible travellers and stewards of the world.

Trip planning services

Having travelled all over the world – and sold trips to everywhere I haven’t been – I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve when it comes to putting together travel itineraries. I know roughly how long you need in each place, can help put together ideas of things to do – including not-to-be-missed spots and off-the-beaten-path places – and can also help with things like packing lists and pre-trip checklists.

What I do: talk through your ideas and help you work out a rough itinerary and give suggestions of things to do.

I will also share my packing lists, pre-trip checklists, and personal traveller recommendations for things like borderless currency accounts, travel insurance, eSIMs, and more. Note: these are all pre-written PDFs and are not tailored to each individual trip. If you would like tailored notes we can add that on as an option during your consultation.

What I do not do: I do not book anything for you. I will give recommendations and can help with spreadsheets, maps, and to-do lists, but I do not book flights, accommodation, car rental, transport services, insurance, or anything else.

Please note: I am not a registered travel agent. My trip-planning services focus on advice, support, information, and inspiration to help you make the most of your time away.

How it works

All my trip-planning services start with a questionnaire so I can get a good idea of what your needs are and what you’re looking for.

For most people, this will cover things like:

  • Where you want to go
  • How long you want to go for
  • Rough budget
  • How you want to get around
  • Things you want to see/general interests

If you’re just looking for someone to talk through your ideas and come up with a basic plan for your trip, I offer a basic trip planning service. This includes a 45-minute consultation call where we talk through your wants and needs and put together a rough itinerary to suit. I’ll then send this through along with my personal checklists and traveller recommendations.

If you’re looking for more in-depth trip planning and support, my full trip planning packages also include a follow-up call and a custom itinerary spreadsheet and interactive map, along with suggestions of how long to spend in each place and things to do each day. This option also includes access to me via WhatsApp or email.

Alternatively, if you already have an itinerary mapped out and just want an expert eye to make sure you’re not missing anything, then I’ll send a quick questionnaire and you’ll send me all the information to look over before our call. We’ll then have a 30-minute chat and I’ll send over any notes and personalised resources to help you make the most of your trip.

Add-on services

If you’re panicking before your trip, or if the shit hits the fan when you’re away and you need help to change your itinerary on the fly or want someone to talk to who has been there (believe me, I have), I also offer add-on emergency trip-changing or emotional support add-ons that can be purchased as needed.

“I hired Cassie to help plan a family trip to the UK to celebrate our twins graduating high school and moving on to college. We wanted our vacation to be special for the whole family and since we also have a younger child, thoughtful planning was required. As a full-time working mom with a small child and a home move on the horizon, the thought of tackling this planning was, frankly, overwhelming. Cassie to the rescue!

Cassie worked with me to research and plan every aspect of our travel through England and Scotland – costs, itinerary, accommodations, and logistics; AND she documented all of it for us in a handy spreadsheet with an interactive map. It was absolutely amazing! I owe Cassie my sanity for planning an incredible family trip our children will never, ever forget. Money very, very well spent!
