Workshops & Circles

Small-group spaces and creative writing workshops to explore your stories, develop your voice, and share your journey

Over the past few years, my love for storytelling has transformed into something more potent and meaningful – like a deeper calling to help others reconnect with their own stories, rewrite the ones that are no longer serving them, and find ways to share their words with courage, clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.

This passion has even led me to train in narrative therapy and community work, along with circle facilitation and space holding.

While my previous career in travel writing taught me to see stories everywhere and in everyone, it was my own inner journey – including navigating lockdown on the other side of the world from most of my support system while losing my mum and most of her stories to young-onset Alzheimer’s – that taught me the true power of the stories we carry.

Ever since, I’ve made it my mission to create spaces and run creative writing workshops where people can shape, speak, and step into their stories, whether for healing, self-expression, legacy, or simply for the sheer joy of exploring and honouring their innate creativity.

I genuinely believe we live in a time where stories matter more than ever – and not just the ones we tell others, but the ones we keep hidden inside, too. The ones we’ve been told (or tell ourselves) are too boring, too messy, or too much. I’m here to help you find the golden threads that show you that they matter, too. That every single story matters.

Calling on the principles of narrative practice and my experience working with more than 100 people and their stories as a creative mentor, I create spaces where we honour the power of ordinary stories as much as – if not even more than – extraordinary ones (although I do love to help you explore the extraordinary ones, too!)

Whether you’ve written before or you’re exploring stories for the first time, everyone is always welcome in my spaces. My aim is for them to be exploratory, experiential, and even kind of exciting. I don’t tell you how to write, but instead offer spaces for you to find your voice, write, listen, share (if you want!), and see how deeply every single one of our stories matters, and how they can connect us across oceans, time zones, and generations.

Historically, storytelling circles played a huge part in the fabric of our society. Circles were gathering places, where everyone in the community was free to share and to be seen, to ask for support and help, or just to listen. They were places of connection, community, curiosity, and compassion, where everyone was given a voice and had the right to speak and to be listened to.

In our modern, hierarchical world and in these times of polycrisis – what I’ve come to call the polywilderness – these places of sharing, supporting, witnessing, and deep listening feel more important than ever. Although we are more connected than ever online and through social media, it feels like there are fewer judgement-free spaces where we can just show up as our whole selves, with all our stories, struggles, and celebrations, and be seen and held within community.

These past few years, I’ve been leaning deeper into narrative practice as a way to hold these circle spaces – to bridge the divisions tearing us apart, to remind us of what it means to be human, and what it means to belong.

I always endeavour to create spaces that are:

  • Gentle, inclusive, and welcoming
  • Invitational rather than obligational
  • Open to anyone who is curious and open-minded
  • Designed to foster creativity, curiosity, compassion, and connection

1. Monthly Creative Circles + Seasonal Story Sharing Spaces

Putting a fun and playful spin on ancient circle spaces and narrative practice, these gatherings are like online creative writing workshops, designed to help you feel held and heard, reconnect with your innate creativity, and free your imagination.

These circles are held on the fourth Friday of each month within my creative community, The Lemonade Factory. Access is included for all paid subscribers to my Substack, Making Lemonade, along with group mentoring calls, co-working calls, a WhatsApp group, and a growing library of resources.

2. Co-Creating Calls

Within my membership space, The Lemonade Factory, I also offer twice-monthly co-working calls designed to meet UK and Australian time zones. Perfect for those who like body doubling or might otherwise struggle to set aside time to write or create, these hour-long calls offer gentle accountability and quiet company.

3. Group Mentoring Sessions & Creative Business Q+As

Each month, I also offer casual group mentoring sessions within The Lemonade Factory. Designed to meet you exactly where you are, these are spaces to ask for input, share what you’re struggling with, and receive support and guidance from me and the group. Like the co-working calls and writing circles, these calls are open to all paid subscribers to my Substack, Making Lemonade.

4. Stories of Our Lives (Flagship Workshop)

A creative writing workshop focused on unlocking your voice, excavating your memory, and reflecting on the stories that shape who you are. Through guided prompts, group discussion, and optional sharing, we’ll create a judgement-free space to connect, reflect, and start to see the value in our own stories.

5. Writing to Heal (Journalling Workshop)

A powerful and tender space for anyone navigating grief, loss, or life’s heavier seasons. Open for everyone to arrive exactly as they are, this workshop uses gentle narrative enquiry practices to help process life’s transitions, honour what’s past, tap into the wellspring of hard-won wisdom and knowledge you already have, and open up new threads of possibility.

6. Legacy Writing Workshops

What do you want to leave behind – not just practically, but also emotionally and spiritually? This workshop discusses death and memorial traditions from around the world as a way to explore the ways we might want to be remembered. Then, we’ll put pen to paper and write personal legacy pieces that will help us live better, happier, fuller lives and make the most of the time we have. These sessions are gentle, life-affirming, and surprisingly joyful.

7. The Art of Travel Writing: From Anecdote to Adventure

Whether you dream of being published or simply want to capture your adventures more vividly in your journal, this 90-minute interactive workshop offers practical tools to bring your experiences to life. Drawing on my decade as a globe-trotting travel writer, we explore everything from finding your unique voice and shaping a story idea to the practicalities of pitching and publishing.

Upcoming Dates: Saturday 29th August @ Morley Library. Free entry – more details to come!

Previous Dates: Tuesday 5th May @ Fremantle Library. Free entry – booking required.

Cassie offers such a supportive and friendly space to engage with other creatives, and her thoughtful writing prompts and guidance inspires me to expand my thinking and creative process. It has also been such a great way to build community and discover new perspectives from others at home and overseas.

Rhianna – Perth, Australia

Cassie makes me feel at ease and at home right away. Her circles offer a wonderful platform to connect with my little inner voice, which meets me in the writing space and then, with joy, goes on a journey with Cassie’s well-curated prompts.

Katharina – London, UK

I love all your questions – and it’s funny that I always rush past these kind of things (no time!) but the answer to what I’d do if I could stop the clock was clear and instant: finish my book! How very silly (and very human) that I pretend I don’t have time to write.

Susannah – London, UK

Such a lovely writing circle with Cassie Wilkins this week. The questions sparked a lot for me…two in particular…which reminded me that I could change course for the remainder of the year. We get to choose! After our call this week, I was suddenly back in my body again and realised I could just let stuff go that isn’t for me in this season of life and work. Looking forward to your co-writing calls. The co-creating ones have been so lovely and helpful! That sense of accountability really works for me. I’m also forever inspired by your tenacity and sense of adventure!

Sarah – Scotland, UK

“I loved your workshop and had such a lovely day with some amazing people. You really could feel your happiness and passion towards journalling and living a happy life. I’m really looking forward to using journalling as a tool for my personal growth. Thanks again for such a lovely experience.”

“I really enjoyed the writing class. You have such a passion for writing, and the energy was palpable. I love seeing the contrasts in each of us and how we are all unique. The workshop was great and I was blown away – in a good way. The little threads of writing exercises were such a pleasure, too.”
